SUPPORT
Most website emergencies are maintenance that didn't happen.
Website Care is our monthly arrangement for that. We host the site, keep it updated, protect it, back it up somewhere else, and fix the small things before they turn into the expensive kind. $199 a month.
$199 per month
Hosting included. Kept updated. Watched and backed up.
A backup you've never restored is a guess. We test restores, because the day you need one is a bad day to find out the database wasn't included.
What changes when it's not your problem.
You stop watching for updates
They happen on a schedule, on a copy of your site first, and you hear about it afterward rather than being asked to approve it.
Nobody has to remember the backup
It runs, it lives off the server that holds your site, and somebody has actually restored from it.
You find out from us, not from a customer
The site is checked from outside your network. A phone call that starts “your website is down” should not be the first you hear of it.
The small things get done
Two Quick Fixes a month, and most of them take minutes. It is the list of little jobs that otherwise sits untouched for a year.
One number for the site and the server
We run the hosting, so there is no host to call and nobody to point at anybody else.
A short note each month
What was updated, what was checked, anything worth knowing. Not a dashboard you have to log into and interpret.
What $199 a month covers.
- Managed hosting and a CDN, included. The site runs on our hosting and is served from wherever your visitor is, so there is no separate host to pay, chase or blame.
- Updates, applied and checked. Core, theme and plugin updates tested on a copy of your site first, then applied to the live one.
- Protected, not just watched. Security hardening, malware scanning and a firewall in front of the site that turns away the automated attacks before they reach it.
- Backups kept somewhere else. Off the server that holds your site, and restored rather than assumed.
- Speed kept in shape. Sites don't get slow all at once, and nobody notices the month it starts.
- If it is ever hacked, putting it right is included. Cleanup and recovery for a site compromised while it is under our care. No separate invoice on the worst day of your year.
- Two Quick Fixes a month. A Quick Fix is a small change, about fifteen minutes of work or less: swapping a photo, updating wording that is already there, putting up a post you have written, a small change to a contact form. They don't roll over, and they aren't development time.
- People who know your site. The same team, who have looked at it before and can see the server as well as the site.
What is not in it.
Quick Fixes are not development time. A redesign, a new feature, a store that needs work every month, a migration or an integration that has to keep working is a piece of work in its own right: we look at it, tell you what it involves, and quote it before anything starts. Work beyond the plan is quoted first and billed at preferred client rates.
If the site has problems already, we fix those first as a separate piece of work. There is no point maintaining a site that is not working, and we will not roll a repair into a monthly figure to make the monthly figure look better. Need the website built as well?
Why it's worth paying for.
Routine work is cheaper than emergency work
Emergency work costs more, happens at the worst possible time, and starts with the damage already running. Routine work is cheap, scheduled and dull.
What we won't claim
Maintenance doesn't prevent every problem. Third-party services break, hosts have outages, and a determined attacker can still ruin your day.
What to expect
- We start with a baseline
- We fix what's already broken first
- Updates go on a copy, then on your site
One price, hosting included, month to month. Work beyond the plan is quoted before it starts, at preferred client rates.
Maintenance questions.
What counts as a Quick Fix?
A Quick Fix is a small change, about fifteen minutes of work or less: swapping a photo, updating wording that is already there, putting up a post you have written, a small change to a contact form. Two a month. They don't roll over, and they aren't development time. Anything bigger gets looked at and quoted before it starts.
Is hosting included?
Yes, and so is a CDN. The site runs on our hosting, which is why there is one number to call when something is wrong instead of a conversation between a web company and a host.
What happens if my website gets hacked?
If it happens while the site is under Website Care, putting it right is included: we take it down to a clean state, find how they got in and close it. We cannot promise a site will never be compromised, and nobody honest will. We can promise you are not getting an invoice for it on the day.
Our host says they handle updates.
They do a useful piece of it: core updates, backups, some security. What they don't do is check your site afterward or fix the form that stopped working.
Is there a contract?
No long-term commitment. Website Care is month to month. Tell us to stop and it runs to the end of the month you have paid for, then stops, and we will help you move the site wherever it is going. Our terms set out how the plan works.
What if something breaks during an update?
That's what the staging copy and the tested backup are for. We'd roll it back and work out what happened before trying again.
Tired of thinking about the website?
Send us the address. We'll tell you what state it's in and whether Website Care, at $199 a month, is the right arrangement for it.
